Motorola is currently running WSO2 products in a container-native manner on Docker in a private cloud infrastructure built using OpenStack. They are replacing Amazon AWS with OpenStack Private Cloud Deployment as the core mode of application deployment and implementing Docker architecture. This session will explore how and why they created this elastic and cost-effective local infrastructure to support continuous integration using DevOps automation and a Zero Touch Automation Framework. The API CDM will improve UNRWA Data Governance by removing duplicates and standardizing data to create an official source of common data between the overall enterprise applications, not limited to the EMIS project. The Common Data Model (CDM) will introduce a standardized definition of how system solutions and technologies represent resources and their relationships. It is a logical, semantic informational data model, acting as the standard “dictionary and grammar” for a consistent description of resource details and identity. For this project, the CDM concept will be used to define the profiles of the following business entities: Refugees, Staff Member, Location, Student, and Health. Furthermore, the adoption of a dedicated API layer will facilitate UNRWA to build an internally and externally integrated business by exposing the API services to internal parties, external partners, and customers. APIs will be used by any application developers and will allow UNRWA to let others mash up the APIs in innovative ways to build new solutions, increase the growth potential and partnership advancements, reduce duplication, and rework and increase collaborative development. This means the API CDM will enable data interoperability between applications and will create a unique knowledge of business entities forcing the compatibility of data. Verifone’s new flagship payment device “Carbon” comes along with a whole service platform for Estate Owners, merchants, and app developers. A developer SDK and platform allows third-party developers to create apps that can interact with the payment flow, and merchants can purchase these apps via an app store. Merchants can manage their devices and users via the device or via a web platform. Estate owners get an overview of all devices in their “estate” and can manage the devices, their merchants, and apps that they can provide to the merchants. The device consists of two parts – an Android tablet and a Unix-based payment terminal. Verifone decided to use WSO2’s mobile device management solution (EMM) to manage the Android tablet for installing apps, getting information about the current state of the devices, locking or rebooting the devices, installing security policies, etc. Our own terminal management system interacts with EMM on an API-only basis to manage the Android tablets. And the plan is to use EMM for a large-scale deployment of thousands of devices in the field.

This talk will introduce the features and use cases of Carbon, the motivation why we chose the open-source EMM over commercial alternatives, as well as the architecture of our device management via our own terminal management system and EMM APIs.

The AlertaBrasil Project uses dozens of optical character recognition (OCR) cameras located at various federal highways in Brazil, operating over a 40 thousand miles road network and a 50 million vehicles fleet. The information is forwarded to a central system to detect irregularities in real-time and to enhance OCR performance by using two other OCR tools on the license plate image.

Eagle Technology Group (TG) has provided IT services to many large organizations, including the US Department of Defense, the US Department of Justice, and other state government and large commercial business entities. Many of these organizations are stifled by years of development of stovepipe systems using outdated technologies. These systems are the result of cumbersome funding processes, mergers and acquisitions, and organizational politics. These organizations have spent millions of dollars and many, many years building the systems they have. Many of these systems have been built largely without thought to integration. In most cases, the preferred solution to this problem is to develop distributed services-based systems.
